Obama & McCain

What a country!

I am not American, but the election day was almost worldwide. Because history was made yesterday, global history, global change.
I am not American and I don't know which one of them was better than the other and I don't even know which one of them would I have choose, but what I know is that here in Spain we do not have politicians with that high sense of what a nation is as McCain and Obama have.
Last night we stayed all night with the TV on waiting for the results. I told Henry that if my Dad were living with us, he would have wake up the kids and watch the TV with them in beds so that they could be part of History as well.
Around 4 or 5 am local time, everything was almost done and McCain gave his speech to his people. God, how much it touched my heart. He was talking like an American not like a winner or a loser. He called all his people to help Obama to make the nation better and bigger, he also referred personally to Obama's Grandma in a very sweet way. It really amazes me how the greatest pride is to be American and to be in service of the nation, not just to win or lose the election.
Obama's speech was also so inspiring. And maybe that's a word to define him; inspiration. He inspires change but also tradition. I am not American and I am white so I haven't ever had any racist's problems, but don't have to feel it to know how important is to have Obama where he is now. And it was now or never. And it had to be him.
McCain is so good man and good politician but Obama is Carl Lewis. Remember Carl Lewis? He was THE speed, and you could be the best running but you couldn't win Carl Lewis. I feel the same about McCain. Maybe he could have made a change too but not now... Not with Obama there.
I am not American but I want to say congratulations to all American people for that American Pride, congratulations for having those 2 candidates to choose from (believe it's a privilege to be able to choose between Moet Chandon or Veuve Clicquot instead of Coke or Fanta, lol...) it's a real privilege, congratulations for the change to come and congratulations for that love you all have to your flag, hymn and nation. And congratulations to both of the candidates; Obama because he could, McCain because last night he was the most elegant and pure gentleman I've ever seen.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about this photo in this post. A friend of mine that makes printables always says a gift is not a gift if there isn't a chocolate inside... And I think the same but with posts and pics; A blog post is not complete without a pic, so I've decided to add this photo of one of Belle's printable sets. She's so patriotic so I've choose this set from her that's so related to today's American feeling!

Halloween night!

Well, I have read today in other blogs that Blogger is uploading the pics in its own order, lol.. and this is what happened to me and my pics here. So I've decided that I will take it easy and just describe them as they appear, lol...

Here's my little niece Elma wearing the beautiful costume our friend Francis made for her, my little daughter Celia and our sweet, sweet friend Ana Carolina. Ana's mother was the one that had the idea of this costume and I am so thankful because they were soooo sweet!
Celita just kept her hat a few seconds each time we tried to put it on, lol... So this pic is almost a miracle!
But, isn't she just lovely?
And here we are Batman-Henry and me before going out from home. I had a blast making my hair like this and not so good "painting" my lips with the eye liner, lol...
I bet Celita was a bit scared of her Batman-Henry-brother!
And also aid of that bloody man-dad around the house...
But then she decided she'll have fun with all those crazy ones and found a blue lollipop she did enjoy soooo much!
And always Batman-Henry was taking care of her and all the humanity...
Oh, and don't forget the bloody man entertainment!
Here is the group of "Trick-or-treaters"!
Can you see the one trying to hide and go candy-picking alone? A tip... you can see her hat left alone, lol...

Bags day

This last Friday one of Henry's teachers made me one of the most happy women in the world, lol... She asked me if I could make Henry's tutor a bag for her birthday day. They wanted to gift her a book bag and they like the bags I've made for Henry to carry to school.
I was soooooo excited that I didn't hear well the exact day f the birthday so this weekend I've been thinking and thinking what to make for her.
First I thought about making a simple book tote but then remembered that tutorial I saw once in this wonderful blog! And that's how the bag looks like. I choose this combination of fabrics from Michael Miller's Ginger Blossom line. For the outside I choose this wonderful tile and for the lining this wonderful plaid in matching colors.

The pattern was so easy to work with and I loved the inside pocket size. I made 3 sections to hold mobile phone, pens, etc... I also used a bone button for the closure.

I really, really hope she'll like it! I had a blast making it and, most of all, I have enjoyed soooo much thinking about it. I feel so honored because I was asked to do this for her. Really, really proud. She has helped my kid so much and I feel like if I'm able to give her a bit of the love she gives to my kid every day.

Oh, and once the sewing machine was working I had to get a bit more from her, lol...
This next week is Halloween night! Oh yes, I know you didn't know but IT IS!!! lol...
Well, my kid wanted... No, he HOPELESSLY NEEDED a Batman costume for Halloween and finally on Saturday we found one for him (he wanted to sleep with it that night) and now he's always asking me when is the Halloween party... So I decided to make a bag for school so he can carry his juice and water in this fun bag! I made it using a panel I bought in one of the sales at equilter and I was delighted with it. I also used a pumpkin fabric I had from last year's Halloween for the lining and it really is so sweet!

And that was it! My bag-Sunday...

Again...

... I forgot to show this lovely blanket I made for my sweet, sweet friend Ana Carolina. She's starting this year in preschool and she's delighted. She loves being with the big guys and she's also in the class near my kid so they're all together taking care of each other, lol...

I also remembered I have some clipart of Mary Engelbreit and wanted to use it with the beautiful blanket and panels from her. I love her fabrics and her drawings so much and I think this blanket is the sweetest because of this beautiful panel.
Oh and here there's also a closer look to a detail I made to identify the blanket. I printed in fabric paper a drawing from Mary that's almost the same as the panel look and wrote her name in it. Then sewed it at the back of the blanket. I think it looks nice!

Now I can...

... show you what I've been up to!

I have been making some things for friends of mine and also I'm in the process of making some patterns of my own. I am trying to figure out how to write them in a "understandable" language, lol...
Here are the pics of some of the gifts I gave to my cousins this last week. Except the lounge trousers I made for Neni that I forgot to take pics of. And they were truly amazing!
First is the ice cream cozy I've made. I know both love to eat ice cream and that's a good thing to preserve your fingers from freezing, lol...
I made it with Michael Miller's "Jiggle" fabric line in banana yellow.
I just love how this fabric looks like.
And I also made another one for Neni with the same Anna Maria Horner's "Garden Party" fabric line I used to make the lounge pants I didn't take pics of, lol...
And then here's my little treasure. The cozy I've made all by myself! I am so proud of it! Even the pic is soooo bad. Excuse me for that!
And this slippers from the Hooked on Crochet Slippers leaflet. They're still in the "new" form, it just need a foot to fit inside and get the form! These were made for Elma
I did have so much fun making them and I know they have a very nice home now, lol...
Hope you've liked these all!

"Volveré"

This post is also about my marriage, lol... My DH is the "salsa-man" and this weekend he made a CD with all the top 10000000 songs he deeply love from all his salsa songs.
Today we were driving back home from work and he was with the music so loud (the kids were with my Mom, lol...) and he choose all the songs I like so that I won't say anything about the volume, lol... He even played some that aren't "pure" salsa like this I add here
That reminded me how much I love this boy's voice. He's Huey Dunbar from DLG's great group. He's now singing by his own and I also like some songs he has made without the other boy, and I do because his voice is unique! I remember his first solo album he had a video where he was wearing a "Pink" suit!!!! And, the weirdest thing is that he looked soooooooo good, lol... Even so masculine, lol...
Well, hope you'll enjoy this clip with this great song "Volveré". I heard this song for the first time in the voice of a flamenco singer called "Chiquetete" and loved it. But after DLG I think Huey got the spirit of the song better than anyone. Also the video tells the story so maybe it won't be a problem not to speak Spanish to know what's all about, lol...
I hope you'll enjoy Huey's voice as much as I do!

Anniversary

Today's my 6th wedding anniversary.

I can't believe how fast has it all go! And it's fun because we got married the day of the Hispanity festivity; October 12, so we never have to go to work or school in our anniversary. Just enjoy the family!
I feel so lucky today I had to share. I am so sorry I know this has nothing to do with crafts or other things I post about i my blog but I remembered this layout I made last year and wanted to share this pic from our wedding day. I love that photo and I love to look at it and my eyes says everything. It was the happiest day of my life, even more than when my 2 children were born because I also had fear and pain those days, lol... But my wedding day was so magical...
I have always thought that all my related up in heaven moved all their influences so that that day could be just perfect! lol... I felt all the time they were there with us all!
It was a magic day and I just want that all that magic still with us forever! I can't imagine living without my DH and everytime I look at that photo I thank God for letting me enjoy life with him and our beautiful children!
Well, let's keep enjoying the day!
HUgs,
Celia

Healthy breakfast

What's healthy?

Is this breakfast I had this morning healthy? Chocolate, cappuccino and Danone Actimel?
We're always talking about health and dealing between fast-food and fast-good. But what's good?
I like to have my coffee in the morning and also I like to eat anything... whatever... but solid, lol...
What do you like to have for breakfast? Is it healthy?
It's as complicated as life. To eat or not to eat too much.... lol... That's the question...
Well, crafts are all much more easy, aren't them?

Why do I understand so easily what he says?

That's what I thought the first second Rufus Wainwright started to talk in his concert tonight. It has been his first time in the island and he was so fun saying he didn't even know he was coming here and he thought in Madrid he was kidnapped when he was thrown to another flight after landing in Spain, lol... He made lots of jokes (I even started to think he's gay after all he said, lol...) and that helped so much to go through the whole concert because he was alone with his voice and a piano or a guitar.

While starting one of the songs he said he was raised in Montreal and then I understood why I understand all he said when he was talking (but I didn't understand much of what he sang, lol...). I am pretty much of a British "talker". For me there are not colors but colours, and so on... So maybe because his childhood was in Canada his English is not so American and it's easier for me to understand. I promise for me it's much more easier to understand a Scottish than an American accent, lol... (I promise!)
It was a fun night and a nice concert. And we had lots of fun seeing one lady in the first row that fall sleep and how she did stand up in the second the people started the applause, lol... I bet she wasn't the only one!
Hallelujaaaaaaaaaaah!

Marta's Wedding. Part 3!

Pics, pics, and pics!

First from the inside of the church that is a historical building in the town. It was so pretty full of flowers! Here's the groom waiting. He was so nervous and impatient! lol... He didn't have to wait for so long though. Marta came in just in time!, lol...In this pic you can see how the church looked like with the flowers all around, and also the back look of my hair, lol... And Henrito's Mario DS to keep him quite while waiting for Marta to come, lol...
And here she is! Excuses for the blurry pic but Henry's all but a good photographer, lol... They looked so happy that was so emotive!!!!
Henry striking a pose!
My family! Carlitos, Neni, Elma, Christian, my uncle Carlos, my aunt Nena, my mom, my dad and me behind (you can see the feather, lol...) All laughing at Celita that was dancing in the middle of all of them, lol...
Oh, no words.... I love him soooo much!
Celita dancing (again) in the middle of the dance floor just before the waltz started!, lol...
Look at this great idea!!! Marta customized a pair of sneakers for herself so she could dance all day without the high heels!!!! They were so cute!
There were also espadriles for everyone that wanted to take the shoes off and enjoy the dance all day, lol...
And the dance floor got full in a second!!! lol... Very good music and all willing to start having fun together! What a fun family and friends group they were!!!
Henry got fever during the meal so it was so good for us that after he took his medicine he felt so good he enjoyed os much dancing with us!, lol... In this pic we're dancing with my brother Chano, lol...
Oh God, it was soooooo hot!!! Here I am with my ugliest abanico that I took to keep Celita busy during the ceremony in the church. I had my favorite one for myself but then I gave it to my aunt because it was so hot and then I was all day with this ugly one, lol... Just for being so selfish with my little daughter, lol...
What's a wedding without a train?, lol...
Can you see the fever face? lol...

Celita didn't want this photo to be taken, lol...
Oh, here was when Henrito started feeling so a big photographer and he made photos of everyone and everything, lol... But I think maybe he won't really do it as a job, lol... At least not until he learn how to take the pics of the "entire" people, lol... Here's Marta smiling at him, lol... Well, at least the pic shows the wonderful dress she was wearing!; lol...
Oh, and here's a pic of my nightmare all day. The floor and my heels. In this pic I don't know who does this feet belongs to, lol... But you can see the heel ready to fall, lol...
This is the outside of where the celebration was. It was the old convent of San Francisco and now it's a museum. It has a central patio that's so pretty! In the pic it is the entrance of the church near the convent. Door to door.
We were going back to the hotel and Henrito was so tired he made pics of everything he saw from there to the hotel, lol... But these ones are good, lol...
Also here it's the car where Marta came and the hotel where she took the photos of the wedding and most of the people stayed at.
Look at our faces. Aren't we just coming BACK from the party?, lol... We were up since 6am getting everything ready and we were soooo tired at that moment and my feet were just walking on their own!!! God, how much they hurt, no way I'll get ever used to high heels!
Well, and that's all!
Oh, I am waiting for some pics of my little daughter with her little cousin both wearing the same dress in the beautiful patio where the wedding celebration took place. I'll post them soon!

Marta's Wedding. Part 2

Oh, you can't imagine how wonderful is the San Roque hotel. You can only know it when you're there. The staff, the building, the rooms, the food, the pool! Everything is made just to feel you the most special people in the world!

The building is a historic building from the village and it's really amazing. The town where it is located is called Garachico. My mom was born there and we've been always so related to everything that happens there. So the way the rooms are located in the building and the central patio, etc... reminds me of my family's house. We had 2 rooms together and they were both "inside" a commom door. So we had the 2 separated rooms but we could keep the doors open and only the "main door" closed. Henrito felt like he was sooooo big having his own room with his own bathroom and taking care of his daughter himself alone! Lol... He was so fun!
Well, this hotel is no words but GLORY!, lol...
Let's show the pics we took there. I am so sorry we forgot to take pics of the pool this morning but you can see them also in their site.

Have you ever seen more amenities in the same room? Amazing!
Look at the beautiful color of the walls!
This is the seating area near the window that looked to the pool from our bathroom. This morning we sat the kids here with us and told them we had a surprise to show them. When we opened the window they saw the pool and the breakfast tables by the pool and Henry was excited! He wanted to go right away!

And here is the first pics of the family ready for the wedding. We took these pics in teh hotel room before going to the church. Here you can see my Cherry Chau hair accessory (I don't know the right name for this, lol...) that I bought in my Paris trip in the Galleries Lafayette! And also my lovely, lovely Patricia Avendaño dress that I blogged here before.
My sweet Celita was just adorable and was wearing a beautiful blue dress the same as her cousin Elmita.
And my sweet and handsome boy Henrito with his suit and tie,lol... Lovely!
And my husband looking sooooo handsome with his suit and new haircut!!!!!
