Don't know how is it called in English...

... It's between a Jule roll and Swiss roll. But it is savoury, not sweet.
Well, it is made with sponge cake, pink sauce (hope it is called like this as I did make a translation as it is in Spanish, lol... It is made with ketchup and mayonnaise), avocado and shrimps or crab meat. I made it with shrimps.

I made it to keep my mind busy while hearing the news from the fire in La Gomera. I was calling my mom all the time and I think I was making her anxious, lol... So I decided I wanted to cook anything sweet & savoury at the same time, lol...
And here it is!

Here's how it looks like inside.
I can not believe that I didn't take photos to the preparation process. I am sorry. It is so easy as you only have to make the mix for the cake and then go to the oven, go outside, spread the ingredients, roll, and that's it!, lol...
And now I am going to enjoy it a bit!

And can't help adding here a photo of my dad's town fire. Well, this is from the church of the nearby town. It is so sad. And also the national park of Garajonay that's a world heritage since the eighties. I am praying for it, it would be so sad to have all that nature beauty dead by the fire.

The end of the world

God, this is the view from my house top floor. There's a sand storm in my area and I even had to take the photo with the window closed because of the wind. I can not go out from my house with the kids and the street is empty. We have to have all the windows closed and we can not let any sand come inside the house.

In the first photo where you can see only white behind the palms, is the sea. You can not see it. I can not even see the fire that has began in the island in front of me because of the sand in the air.
My family is in the other island (La Gomera) for the festivities in my Dad's village town and they're in the middle of 3 fires but, hopefully the house and the place where the town is, makes it safe for them to be there but the air is so hard to breathe.

Like I said; seems to be the end of the world.

God, I just want to wake up tomorrow and leave this horrible day behind!!!!

This is a photo of how my village looks like in a cloudy day (normally it is even more sunny), so you can compare the photos with the other first ones where you can not see anything of the sky or the sea.

Well, it's fun!

Lately I have posted more about fashion than my crochet work but it is almost the same yet and I
feel a bit ashamed about it, lol...
But I have found this and I am in love with it!

Can you imagine being able to make your own Fendi bag? A piece of history in your family that your daughters or sons could use forever??? lol...
I think it's great!

I think I need it!

Oh, I have always loved so much Chanel bags. Not the classic ones but those gems they always have in every runway that are made from a classic but with changes to make it new and modern.

This is so pretty and now I just wish I'd had it!, lol... And I am even sure that my crochet projects could fit perfectly inside it!, lol...

Just enjoy it if you haven't already done so...

Cupcakes for the soul

Today I have been missing my DH so much. Maybe because my kid has been a bit ill or maybe just because I love him so much and I spend so much time with him that now I can't do anything without commenting him... lol...

That's why (maybe) I decided to make some cupcakes for me, my kid and a friend of mine that I thought maybe could be needing also some sugar in her life...
I used the quick coffee cake recipe from the Thermomix machine and then baked them as cupcakes and top them with some Betty Crocker chocolate frosting. So easy but so tasty!

Really don't like the city

I am a "little-village-girl" and really don't like cities. Well, there's not a real city in my island anyway, not the usual ones. The main city here is not so big but bigger than my village for sure it is, lol...

But sometimes in a city you find this little cute and sweet place that I'd call a home. And this morning I saw this house and thought I could be happy there even it's just in the middle of the city...

The three levels belongs to the same house and the flowers in the balcony are just beautiful.

Just wanted to share...

...what my brother sent to me.
There's no metro in my island but I wish I could find anything like this anywhere! lol...
I bet I'd cry if I see such a sweet thing alive, lol...

Pasta al Domingo style

Lol... That's how I call this recipe as it is something as easy as possible to feed my kids and be able to keep crocheting while they're in their nap. lol...
Well, it is so easy and so tasty!
First you need to make a chopped onion as sweet as possible.
Then you can add some ham or whatever you like (chorizo, salami, etc...)
WHen you this all cooked and browned you may add some fried tomato sauce and let it boil a bit.
Oh God, while I was writing I have realized I forgot to add the orégano!!! I must add some now, lol...
Now it is time to add the cooked pasta and mix it all together.
And, finally, you put on the top of it all some cheese and put the lid until it's all melted.
And then it is only time to enjoy! Oh, forgot to say in any of the steps you do need to add salt!!! It is impossible to eat any pasta without the enough amount of salt!!!!; lol... This one is mostly for the kids and that's why I only add the salt to the boiling water to cook the pasta.

Love cooking but sometimes and, specially on Sundays, I just want to eat and keep going, lol... And also on SUndays is my husband who makes the pasta and now that he's not at home it was so fun to eat it and remembering the good pasta recipes he always makes!

My husband is in Egypt right now and the kids and me, we are missing him so much!!! Look at this "head-shirt" he has... lol...

Ripple Blanket

I am loving this blanket so much!

The pattern is so easy to work with and the yarn is just adorable. I can not believe Knit Picks has discontinued this beauty!
I have made some changes in the colors and did add a navy blue instead of the pink and now I'll use the pink again to make the sides of the blanket.
Isn't it lovely??

Yarnholic

I just love these colors!!!! This is Katia's Brisa yarn and the girl in my local yarn shop recommend it to me and I am delighted! Now I can not wait to start working with it!
I haven't finished yet my ripples blanket, even though it is longer now, lol... I think I'll finish it in time for the Christening!
I don't know yet what I'll be doing with the Brisa's yarn but it is for a friend of mine that will like me to do a top for her. I just need to find a nice and easy pattern to make.

And here's what I gave to my husband before he went to the plane for his business trip. Obviously, if you need a 30 spf sunscreen he's not going to have a bad time, or am I wrong?, lol...

Tortilla española

I love omelette and the Spanish one has all I love to eat; eggs and potatoes.

I have made one for myself tonight for dinner. It's a very easy recipe and the results are amazing.

You just need 2 big potatoes, peeled and cubed, 1 big onion also cubed and 2 eggs. Fry the potatoes and the onion in olive oil.

Then whisk the eggs until fluffy in a bowl and add the potatoes and onions.

Heat a teaspoon of oil in a skillet and when it's hot add the mix and cook at low heat for 1 minute. Turn the omelette and cook another minute in the other side.

And that's it!
Enjoy!

Please, excuse me for the photo but believe me that the final results, even looking dark are amazing!!!, lol...

Love ripples!

Here is the photo of how the ripple's growing...

I have used 6 colors from the Ambrosia yarn and I think the mix of them is so sweet and soft fr the baby. The wide is 32" and I hope I'll be able to make up to 47" long.

Next Project!

Oh, God, I haven't finished yet the blanket for my kid. I must admit this is not getting me excited and always find an excuse to stop working on it for a while, lol...

Now I have my friend's little baby's Christening soon and I want to make anything special for him. I am going to make the ripple blanket from the Vintage Crochet book. The cover is the blanket I am going to make but in crib size. I love this book and couldn't wait to start making any project from it!, lol...

I am going to use Knit Picks  yarn called Ambrosia. It has been discontinued but I do love it so much. I have bought some once and I have kept it like gold!; lol... It is so soft to work with and I think it is a great yarn to use with a baby. He's amazingly cute and he deserves the best for his big day.
The color I have chosen are so soft and I think it will end being so sweet. I have only made the first row last night because I made some mistakes calculating the crib size but now I have done it right and will be able to start working in it properly today.
I'll post a photo in the second I'll have something special, lol...

I am so excited now with this project!

Hard day after the sale

Well, the sale was a big success and everyone made very good business there (customers more than anyone else, lol...). In example, we had brand t-shirts, trousers and perfumes and all for 5 euros each! Then near us it was a friend of us selling brand shoes for 15 euros the pair and if you bought 2 the price was 20 euros only! It was great and fun!!!!

Here's a photo of how the square looked like with all the kid's amenities they had there. It was fun because while we were working while our kids were with the fathers playing there like crazy!

But then I have been a bit busy after that because while we were
there a big rain started to come from the sea and we had to get everything closed in fifteen minutes, lol...
I have to say the rain was good for me because I had more time to get ready to go to the theatre in the city where we went to see "Tricicle". They're a trio of comediants that makes all the show without words. I have always liked them so much. This group that came here weren't the original ones but a "copy" made by them to be able to reach all the theatre where they can't go.
I had a BIG laugh there!!!! I went with some great friends and we were in the fist row of the theatre and the group started making jokes with two of us and I tought I would have a collapse because of laughing so much, lol...

The day before the Sale

Tomorrow there will be a big sale (like a sale fair) in a near village's square.

Well be there with our shops "leftovers" from the sale season and it is going to be a big work. Today we're getting all the last things ready. That's why I won't be having enough time today for crafts but I always take my crochet works with me in case I have any spare moment, lol...

I have taken again the works I was in December that was a blanket for my boy to go the the school. Now I don't know if he'll be able to kee usinfg it as it is made with a bulky yarn and in the spring in my island maybe it is so warm for it, lol...

The yarn is from Katia (I love this Spanish yarn brand) but really don't know the name (and haven't been able to find the rest of the skeins I have from it). I'll write it when I'll find them, lol... The color is so nice and the feeling of the yarn when worked is also so soft.
The pattern is the Alicia Paulson's Tiramisu Blanket. It is the first time I have made this pattern but I am sure I'll repeat it with another yarn weight. It is so easy and nice to work with.

I think the edging in this yarn will look so different and also so "boyish" that's now the thing my boy cares most. Boy's things I bet, lol...

I think that maybe I'll have it finished for this next week.

Oh, I want to mention my love for fabric stashes and one that I have found that can't help but keep looking at it every time. I think I love fabrics so much because here there are not so many places to buy cool fabrics and the places that I know have more or less the same variety. That's why I love to see photos of fabric shops in the US in many small villages, lol... That's so weird to see here. Thanks God we have online shops!!!
Well, I have found this cute blog Foofanagle where I've seen one of the most beautiful photos I've found in the web!!! Isn't it?

And now I am going to lurk a bit in my favorite crochet blog in the web. Just love Stacey's creations!!! And also her speed to make such beautiful creations full of changes. Lots of creativity!

SBE

It's friday already! Can't believe it!

I am in a hurry to got sent the QP to the SBE's "Create It, Collect It" exchange and be able to enjoy an amazing QPs album for free. Just for the joy of sharing beautiful layouts!
I love digital scrapbooking and SBE is a lovely place to share and get inspired.

I am also posting today the 4x6 layout for the recipe card exchange that this month has the Crockpot theme. I am sure I'll find there many, many yummy recipes to do at home.
My recipe is one I got from the Gooseberry Patch's "Slow Cooker" cookbook and it's available for free at the site.

Oh, and talking about recipes... I have received this morning the Craft: Newsletter (I couldn't live without it now that I know it!) and there was a link about my perfect cupcake and it's the Neapolitan Cupcake. I have always, always loved Neapolitan colors mix and I can't even imagine eating a cupcake like this, lol... I am sure I'll add some coffee flavor around any part of the cupcake myself, lol... I have to try this soon! And also the whole blog has amazing recipes that seems to be so easy because the step-by-step instructions are amazing!

Sweet Barbecue Chicken

Well, I love to make sweet recipes for main plates. That's why in my kitchen there's always soy sauce and honey, lol...

This recipe is so easy to make and so yummy!
These are the ingredients:
1 chicken breast
1 cup barbecue sauce
2 big potatoes peeled and cubed
1 tblsp soy sauce
2 tblsp honey
1 tblsp honey barbecue sauce
1 tsp fruity sauce
barbecue smoke spray
In olive oil fry the cubed potatoes. Set aside
Cut the chicken breast in cubes the size you like. Spray them with the barbecue smoke and cook them in a large skillet with 2 tblsp olive oil.
Meanwhile mix the soy sauce with the honey and then add all the other ingredients for the sauce.
When the chicken is golden colored add the sauce and the potatoes.
Now just mix them all well in the skillet and, enjoy!

And, please, excuse me for the bad photos. I've made them with my mobile phone and the resolution is not the best.  I'll do my best to improve the next ones, lol...

Hi There!

This is my first post in this blog. I have had one before about my crochet works but haven't posted there since a long time. I hope now I'll begin to post more often in this blog where I would like to write about my craft works, recipes, etc... And also share all the nice things and ideas I can see in other blogs that are so inspiring.

In this post I am going to show what I have made for my friend's baby boy, Enrique. I've made it using the Mardi Baby Cardigan from Alicia Paulson. I have always found her patterns sooo easy to follow and, also today, I have just received my copy from the Vintage Crochet book and I can not wait to start working with her patterns there. I think I am going to start with the cardigan for my baby girl.

I have made many Cecily cardigans as well and for me it is one of my all-times favorite crochet patterns. Here is a post I did make in my old blog showing one of the cardigans and also the "Bella" dress that's amazing!

Here's the photo of the cardigan already finished. As you can see I have changed a bit the final steps of the pattern but stills the same look.
